Cambodia is a beautiful country, both its landscape and its history now being healed by the passage of time. It is a low-lying, flat land with two mountain ranges-the Cardamom and the Dangrek Mountains, in the southwest and the north. The Mekong, the most important of its many rivers, flows through the eastern part of the country into Vietnam and the South China Sea. Many of its Ankor-era structures, sculptures and artefacts survived the Vietnam War and add to the country's lush natural beauty, both in situ and in museums.
